2022-23 QVJC Basketball Champions

2022-23 QVJC Basketball Champions

Our Lady Eagles had an amazing season due to talent and hard work. Our Captains, Anna Hernandez and Elise Coyle led the team to an 8-2 regular season record. They also recorded a win against Rectory in a scrimmage.

As Season champs, the girls advanced to the finals as the number 1 seed. They defeated the number 4 seed Putnam in a narrow contest 35-31.

PCS went on to the finals with a win over the number 2 seed Ashford. By half time the Eagles were up by seven points. That lead shrank going into the third quarter with PCS up by five. Leaving everything on the court,  in the fourth quarter PCS took it away. Our power defense stepped up and shut down Ashford. Our girls went on to score seventeen points in the last quarter, while Ashford posted only four points to the scoreboard. Elise Coyle led the board with 21 points, followed by Kealyn Lamarche with 20, Anna Hernandez had 11, Grace Berberian had 8, and Addy Shaw had 1 from the free throw line! The final score was 61-43!

I could not be more privileged to have been afforded the opportunity to coach such a wonderful group of athletes and young women. Pomfret should be very proud of this extraordinary Basketball Team!

The Holiday Shop made $958. This will go towards things like funding field trips and events for the students, enrichment items such as any needed class supplies, and providing teachers and staff with lunch at the beginning of the year and during Teacher Appreciation week. The Pomfret Community School community would like to extend their gratitude to the PTO .

5th grade volume project
By Elizabeth Pierce-Fortin 01 Dec, 2023
After learning about the volume of rectangular prisms, the 5th graders created animal creatures out of different sized rectangular boxes. They computed the volumes of all the different sized boxes then found the total volume of their animal creature. When they finished their calculations, they decorated and embellished their animal creatures.
