Pomfret Community School welcomed a furry visitor named Sadie along with her companion, Kate Bars. Kate and her dog Sadie are a therapy team through Pet Partners. Sadie is a 6-year-old yellow lab and has been certified since she was 1.5 years old. They visit different clinics and libraries in the area, including the Pomfret Public Library.

They were invited by School Counselor, Kelsey Butcka. Her goal is to work with all the students on different coping skills for when they feel overwhelmed. Some of the activities she has planned are crafts, breathing techniques and movement. Mrs. Butchka added, "Introducing a therapy dog and the idea that animals can have a calming effect is something I thought was just as important as yoga!"

The Pomfret Community School community would like to extend their gratitude to the PTO .

5th grade volume project
By Elizabeth Pierce-Fortin 01 Dec, 2023
After learning about the volume of rectangular prisms, the 5th graders created animal creatures out of different sized rectangular boxes. They computed the volumes of all the different sized boxes then found the total volume of their animal creature. When they finished their calculations, they decorated and embellished their animal creatures.
