Welcome! My name is Michael Galligan. I am in my 18th year at Pomfret Community School. If there is a great place to teach - this is it! I am currently the assistant principal here at PCS, having stepped out of the classroom where I was teaching 8th Grade social studies (19th Century U.S. History - Early Republic through 1900).

A little about my background - I attended another Pre-K - 8 school (Lisbon Central School - in Lisbon, CT), went on to Norwich Free Academy for high school, and I graduated from Providence College. I received my M.A.T. from Sacred Heart University in 1998. I have since earned my Connecticut Intermediate Administrator's Certificate through Sacred Heart University and am a Certified Administrator.
My interests include most all sports and I had the opportunity to coach girls soccer at PCS for 9 years (8 years as the "head coach") and Basketball for 7 years where I handled the Varsity Girls Team coaching responsibilities. I follow the Boston sports teams - Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins and Patriots (and a bit of New York - the New York Giants). Though I enjoy Pro sports, I love college basketball - especially the Providence College Friars. Though it is difficult being in the heart of "Husky Country," I loudly cheer for the FRIARS. I don't really live for sports though and outside of school I keep quite busy working on my wife's family's organic produce farm, spending time with my family and enjoying the outdoors. I read extensively (both fiction and non-fiction) and listen to a wide variety of music. I try to spend as much time outside as possible - hiking and exploring especially. For my other responsibilities at PCS, I serve on a number of school committees, am in charge of standardized testing, and help coordinate the annual 8th grade trip to D.C.
